History of the City of Delray Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade

The annual Delray Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a tradition that began in 1968 with a local Irishman and pub owner named Maury Power who, legend has it, took a stroll down Atlantic  Avenue with his shillelagh and a green pig that sparked the annual parade.

Over the years, the parade has grown into what it is today, the greatest St. Patrick's Day Parade in South Florida. It proudly features our local nonprofit organizations, businesses, schools, civic organizations, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters and EMS, as well as participants from across the United States and the world.

The City of Delray Beach and Delray Beach Fire Rescue began hosting the parade and festival in 2019.
