Vertigo- U2 Tribute Band
Founded in 1985, the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The band’s journey began on June 26, 1985, at an inaugural meeting led by Damien Fynes, who remains a core member, serving as Drum Major. Comprising active and retired members from all ranks of the Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB), the band represents the camaraderie of firefighting and musical tradition. Their current uniform features the US Navy 'Edzell' tartan, chosen for its matching colors with Dublin and the DFB.
Through their music, the band has forged strong international ties with fire departments and pipe bands worldwide. Collaborations with the Emerald Society Pipe Bands of New York and Washington, D.C., have led to performances across the United States, including Florida, Chicago, Savannah, and Kansas.
Many original members like Paul Shannon, John Keogh, Dave Byrne, and Damien Fynes still perform today. They also honor the memory of drummer Peter O’Reilly (RIP, 2011), with his name on their bass drum as a tribute.
The band’s success is rooted in the dedication of its members, loyal supporters, and instructors Dave Rickard and Ciaran Mordaunt. Leadership roles, including Pipe Major Barney Mulhall and Drum Sergeant Alan Corcoran, are held by committed members, supported by Chairman John McNally, Secretary Kevin Conlan, and Treasurer Rory Prevett. Contributions from members’ families and DFB associate members further ensure the band’s legacy continues to thrive.
The membership of the DCFD Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band is distinctive in that all members are active or retired DC Firefighters. These members range from those recently graduated from the Training Academy to retirees who have dedicated thirty plus years of service.
For many years, members of the Emerald Society Firefighters of Washington, DC dreamed of forming their own fire service pipe band. Tragic events from multiple "Line of Duty Deaths" like September 11th, 2001, and the ability to play for one of its own served as the catalyst to form an all DC Firefighter Pipe and Drum band.
In February 2002, approximately 40 DC Firefighters turned out for the first band practice. One year later the band was officially marching down Constitution Avenue during the 2003 Washington, DC Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Over the years, band members have put in a lot of hours practicing and performing all over the USA and abroad. We do this with pride and to honor all those we work with on the job or those who have retired in the past.
Our Band Motto:
Onóir, Meòraich, Beatha, Greadhan
Irish Gaelic for: "Honor, Remember, Represent, Celebrate"
The Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes and Drums was founded in 2007 as a nonprofit organization to fulfill the need for an active firefighter pipe band in the Boston area. The band currently has 50 participating members, composed primarily of active and retired first responders from various departments in and around the Boston area. Our mission is to honor past and present first responders and members of the armed forces by performing at funerals, fundraisers and other civic and charitable events. Some of our past performances include: NE Patriots Superbowl Rally, opening for the Dropkick Murphys, Hurling Games at Fenway, 9/11 Ceremony at the Mass. State House, opening for Huey Lewis and the News, Autism Awareness Gala, Delray St Patrick's Day Parade as well as many parades and fundraisers throughout Massachusetts. We aim to help preserve the rich traditions and honor the legacy of the firefighting profession as well as our Scottish and Irish heritage.
Prepare for a thrilling addition to our parade! We are absolutely delighted to announce that our very own Palm Beach County Firefighters Pipes and Drums Band will be part of this year's lineup. Their dynamic performances and powerful tunes will surely light up the festivities. Let's give them a hearty hometown welcome as they march down Atlantic Avenue and fill the air with their incredible music!
The Palm Beach County Firefighters Pipes and Drums (PBCFFPD) is Southeast Florida’s oldest fire service pipe band. Established in September 2001, they have played for both public safety and civic events for twenty-three years. PBCFFPD band is the Southernmost Public Safety Pipe and Drum band in the United States that all members are active or retired Firefighters.
